What's On

Separating The Dust

Separating The Dust will be performed as part of the Victorian Drama League 2010 One Act Play Festival circuit.

After the funeral service for Mrs Virginia Cromwell, their sons Michael and Chad discuss their mother’s Final Will and Testament. The mourners have left, their kind thoughts exchanged. The sandwiches and tea have been served. It’s no secret to the boys their late mother’s Final Will and Testament has been divided equally. Chad makes his announcement to contest the Will for his lions share; Michael defends his ground. Chad’s wife, Raelene makes her true feelings known about Michael to both of them, which only aggravates the underflow of smouldering years of unspoken hatred between the three of them. The little church on the hill where the funeral service for Mrs Virginia Cromwell was held prepares for another funeral service to be held at five.

Separating The Dust is a strong drama dealing with adult themes of loss, personal grief, and the breaking up of a Final Will and Testament; but more than that, it deals with the breaking up of a dysfunctional family. This story has evolved from stories told to the author and from this a strong and poignant one act play has formed.

Don’t miss out on this racy and exciting one act play. Separating The Dust pulls no punches and the author makes no apologies for the story it tells. The production has been rejected by Monash One Act Play Festival and the Kyneton Daffodil & Arts Festival Committees; this script is too hot to handle, too racy and too strong for their demographic. Don’t miss out on what all the fuss is about.

Short Film Expressions Of Interest

Experienced and responsible film production groups are asked to show their interest in filming and producing two short films, written by Darren Brealey. The optimal group would have their own crew and equipment, are production ready and are professional operators. I am seeking a group of serious artisans who follow guidelines, obey council and state laws, and understand and follow OH&S standards.

The two scripts in question are Eat Up, Tiger and Nomad. Follow the links to the respective webpages to read more information about the short film scripts to gain a better understanding of each genre.

The serious and genuine only need to direct enquiries via the Contact Us webpage.
