Synopsis
The car radio blares a warning of Total Fire Ban as ALEX and SANDRA drive to a local Prison on a country road to pick up Sandra’s brother, Pete. Sandra is a young disappointed women pressing Alex to break up their relationship.
Their plans go astray when Alex runs over a NOMAD, killing him in the process. As Sandra and Alex search through the Nomad’s belongings, another driver witnesses the crash scene. Alex decides to bury the Nomad to destroy the evidence.
After purchasing shovels, a pickaxe and a metal detector from a country town Hardware store, they drive to a far off field. Under a watchful eye of a local farmer on his tractor in the field, Alex attempts to bury the Nomad under a dead Gumtree that points to the sky. The soil is too hard. Alex attempts to cremate the Nomad, twice.
Failing this, Alex continues digging the grave with a pickaxe. He pierces an underground water pipe and creates a water geyser. As the police and fire brigade arrive, the badly burnt Nomad floats in a pool of smouldering wood and blackened soil.
