ALEX and SANDRA, two disgruntled lovers are en route to retrieve Sandra’s paroled brother from Prison. During their sweltering country road trip, they run over a NOMAD. A witness to account the event influences their decision to bury the evidence. The sun-baked soil proves no match for their shovels and pickaxe. A shallow grave, a punctured irrigation pipe and many attempts of cremation fail to hide the dead Nomad from the police and fire brigade.

Partial Script

1 EXT. COUNTRYSIDE. DAY

ALEX, a young man who is angry at the world drives his rustic-powder blue FJ Holden with his girlfriend, Sandra. SANDRA is a young disappointed woman trying to get Alex to break off their relationship. They are dressed in grunge style clothing, overwhelmed by the excessive hot day. We hear music playing from the car radio.

RADIO ANNOUNCER (V/O)
...and repeating, today is a day of Total Fire Ban. That means no open fires and no burning off.

In the horizon a FARMER, with many generations before him, plows a field in his tractor. He wears a well-worn hat. The sun reflects off the tractor’s glass paneling.

RADIO ANNOUNCER (cont’d) (V/O)
It’s currently thirty-six degrees and the mercury is rising.

Alex drives along an isolated country road, surrounded by rolling hills and farming country. Sandra attempts to swat a fly that buzzes around her head.
